From Vogue Vintage Market in New York to Jasmine Goodman's Law and Labels Launch Party in Florida

For the past two years, a series of renowned fashion editors, designers, and friends of Vogue have come together to donate custom couture and vintage pieces, all of which are showcased and sold for charity at Vogue’s Annual Vintage Market, with support from eBay. This year’s event was hosted by the talented Doja Cat, who also graced the magazine’s April cover. I have traveled to New York to attend numerous Vogue events in the past, but I was especially excited about this trip, as it also gave me the opportunity to reconnect with family members I haven't been in contact with for years.

On March 28, the day of the event, I woke up much earlier than usual to get ready, I guess I was a little anxious. My cousin, who lives in New York (and is one of the family members I reconnected with during this trip <3), helped me narrow down the outfit I planned to wear to the Vintage Market. I couldn’t decide whether to go with shades or a hat—I have a serious tendency to get indecisive about little things sometimes (like, really bad lol). After getting her opinion, we both agreed that the shades were definitely the wayyyy cuter option for the outfit.

Since the entire theme of Vogue Vintage Market centered around reselling and upcycling unique, previously loved statement pieces, I thought it would be fun to wear a ’70s-inspired look—something that felt like a mix of Cher and Diana Ross. I’ve had these cute bell-bottoms for the longest time but never got the chance to wear them, so this felt like the perfect moment. I paired them with a Vogue T-shirt that was gifted to me a year earlier when I joined Vogue Club, along with some cute wedge heels from ALDO. As I made my way into Roll & Hill, the venue hosting the immersive shopping experience, I couldn’t help but notice so many bold statement pieces and high-fashion–inspired outfits all around me worn by fellow fashion enthusiast.

Amazing finds at the Vintage Market?

Before leaving for New York, I found a pair of boots by Betsey Johnson at the Dillard’s Outlet, along with a cute pink handbag from ALDO that I was determined to style with something purchased at the Vogue Vintage Market. There were so many incredible finds at the event, but one piece in particular stood out—an ’80s-inspired sweater by Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini. It was perfect.

My boots and the ALDO bag came together effortlessly with that piece, creating a look I couldn’t wait to wear. I ended up styling it for a night out on my last day in New York. My cousin—aka my photographer—took some photos of me in the full outfit, and this time I added a hat (lol). It was an Adidas cap that I’ve grown a little attached to over the past few weeks—I wear it with everything—but it actually worked really well with the look, so I went for it.

There were so many other incredible finds from fellow fashion enthusiasts, including Christine A. Eagleson (IG: @xpressionista), who purchased a stunning floral gown previously worn by Anna Wintour.

A Day Out in New York

I love cities like New York for so many reasons—the fashion scene, the energy, the ambiance—but beyond that, I know there’s a deeper, often overlooked beauty woven into the city.

Family members from both my mom’s and dad’s sides first migrated to New York City when they came to the U.S. (my aunties and grandmothers to my cousins and uncles, they’ve all shared their own perspectives on what the city is really like. Through their eyes, I’ve come to understand that New York’s beauty extends far beyond the surface.) During this trip, especially while spending time with family, I was able to see that beauty for myself—not just in the city, but in the moments and places they introduced me to along the way.

On April 1, Jasmine Goodman debuted her fashion law brand, Law and Labels. Currently practicing family law at Medina & Ritter Family Law, Jasmine has taken a bold step toward pursuing one of her passions—merging law with fashion. The women in attendance, many of whom are part of Central Florida’s legal and fashion communities, came together to support this major milestone in her journey. I first met Jasmine at stylist Ana D.’s Mini Statement Series event, where she led a panel discussing various aspects of fashion law.

Vogue’s Vintage Market definitely inspired me to do a little more vintage shopping. On my way back to Florida, I made a stop in Atlanta, Georgia, to visit my siblings—and, of course, to hunt for the perfect outfit for Jasmine’s event. I ended up finding the perfect vintage menswear-inspired jacket (I have been obsessed with male jackets recently), which I paired with these cutesy Fashion Nova heels and my pink handbag. The whole look came together exactly how I envisioned it. Jasmine’s outfit, along with those of many of the other women in attendance, struck the perfect balance between fashion-forward and business-savvy. It was truly an amazing experience, and I’m looking forward to watching her fashion and law brand continue to grow and flourish.
