The morning of 09/11/2025, as I was getting dressed and ready to head out into the city of New York, I sat there and reflected on that very same day 24 years prior. I can still remember exactly where I was when 9/11 occurred... like many others my age I was at school. We didn't do too much of anything that entire day in class. My teacher turned on the television to the news as we witnessed New York City undergo one of the most heartbreaking tragedies that the United States has experienced within this century. All of our eyes were glued to the T.V. as some mourned and others prayed for all of the people within those buildings. (Including all of the first responders, their families, and anyone who was affected). I was so much younger then, but I still remember the sense of unification and compassion that surged across the country. At that very moment, we were all unified and searching for some sense of real community (togetherness) to help the nation get through such a difficult time.

Vogues' event that I was planning to attend that evening of 09/11/2025 was entitled "What Does Community Mean in 2025?"; which had me thinking the overall importance of community and unification within our current society. Regardless of what community you find yourself being part of: whether it be a community of shared goals, interests, purpose, passions, or even geographical location, etc... community is about uplifting one another when we need it the most. Like many years before, it's about finding common ground to discover new avenues to move forward as a whole.

As a Fashion enthusiast, Business Owner and Art Fanatic it is truly refreshing to be part of a Fashion community that takes the time and energy out to continuously educate and bring together like-minded creatives. During the "What Does Community Mean in 2025 Event", Vogue assembled a series of well-established Industry personnel to share how their companies have incorporated the sense of community within their very own business models and emphasize the importance of doing so. I, myself believe that as an entrepreneur, community is extremely vital and should always reflect the company's overall culture: geared towards staff/employees and clients/customers (the shared values, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors that characterize an organization, shaping its character and defining how employees interact with each other, clients, and the outside world). It was great to hear this selected panel of speaker's point of view on this matter and answer all of our questions regarding this very important subject.

Panel of Speakers:

  1. Hilary Milnes, Executive Americas Editor, Vogue Business

  2. Patricia Borges, Global Managing Director of Gins and Rums and CEO of Ketel One and Zacapa, Diageo

  3. Jennifer Zuccarini, Founder and CEO, Fleur du Mal

  4. Libby Strachan, Director of Brand Marketing, Free People

After our in-depth conversation, we all enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere of Little Ned. The DJ played in the background while we networked and indulged in food and a variety of cocktails.

Superfine Tailoring Black Style

Before I headed out to the Vogue event, I decided to finally take time out to visit the Superfine Tailoring exhibition at the Met Museum in New York. It was majestic in every which way!
